I'm a designer, illustrator, writer, and fashion freak from way back. From the age of five I had a pencil in hand and was unstoppable. It started with sketches of clothing; I was 100% certain I had invented clear shoes. I'm sure my mother didn't have the heart to tell me that those had been around for a long time. She was an encouraging soul.
After dabbling for a couple of years with pencil crayons and lined paper, I decided what I really wanted to be in life. No it wasn't a ballerina... I wanted to be the person that illustrated for the newspaper! Yes, it was decided then. Ridiculously proud of my new found purpose I became obsessed with the Cape Breton Post (our local paper). Ten years later I worked there, only to discover something called clip art, or more recently know as istock. It seemed like the world was playing a cruel joke on me, but did I let that get me down? No, I adapted. I found a way to make images work for me, and became a better designer for it.
It takes skill to translate an idea into a creative marketing solution. It's a balance between concept, an attention grabbing image, and a well-crafted message. After 15 years in the industry, I've become a specialist in this area and truly enjoy working with people to help them translate those initial ideas into something tangible. Something that their clients and potential customers can relate to. It's the best part.
